PROJECT UPDATE: Intercare Vergelegen Plein, Somerset West

The Intercare Vergelegen Plein project is progressing well and is 60% complete. The development includes a modern acute rehabilitation unit designed to provide specialised healthcare and recovery services to the surrounding community. EDS acted as the Principal Agent and Project Manager on the project, overseeing the successful coordination and execution of the development.
Construction activities are ongoing, with project completion scheduled for the end of July 2026. Once complete, the facility will enhance healthcare services within the region, providing patients with access to high-quality rehabilitation and medical care.

- 34-bed acute rehabilitation healthcare facility

NEW PROJECT: Sacks Circle Industrial, Cape Town

After several months of planning and preparation, construction has officially commenced on a new 13,600m2 warehouse development in Sacks Circle Industrial, Bellville, Cape Town.
With demolition works and bulk earthworks successfully completed, the project has progressed to an exciting new phase where structural columns are beginning to rise, alongside the ongoing installation of bulk civil services.
We look forward to seeing this development take shape as a landmark industrial facility.

Newinbosch Square is in the final stages of construction, with all major structural and finishing work nearing completion. EDS acted as the consulting structural engineers on the project, supporting its successful delivery. Final inspections, tenant fit-outs, and commissioning are currently underway to ensure the facility is fully operational.
The official opening of the centre is planned for April 2026, marking a significant milestone for the development and the surrounding community.

EDS Engineers was part of the newly developed R420 million Emeris Sandton landmark. A 47 000 m² mega campus development launched in 2026 by ADvTECH’s private higher education brand, Emeris.
Our team provided Civil, Traffic and Structural Engineering expertise on this impressive project.
CIVIL ENGINEERING
Bulk earthworks design, together with the design and construction monitoring of internal paved driveways, parking areas, sewer infrastructure and stormwater management infrastructure, including an attenuation pond.
TRAFFIC ENGINEERING
Upgrade of the Grayston Drive and Webber Road intersection.
STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
Design for advanced learning spaces, including a double-storey library and information centre, a student experience hub, innovation labs, podcast studios, and a custom indoor sports centre capable of hosting international events.

The IMPOFU Wind Turbine pre-cast yard has been successfully completed, marking a key milestone in the project’s infrastructure development.
STRUCTURAL
From a structural and civil engineering perspective, the yard was designed and executed to support the high-precision fabrication of wind turbine keystone components under controlled conditions.
Structural elements such as casting beds, lifting anchors, and curing facilities were constructed to strict tolerances to ensure the integrity and consistency of pre-cast units.
CIVIL
The civil works included ground stabilization, drainage systems, and reinforced concrete hardstands to accommodate heavy machinery and loading operations.

The facility consists of 400 beds, a study centre, clubhouse and a multi-sport outside court.

The Beechgate Distribution Centre in Amanzimtoti has been successfully completed!
As the appointed Project Managers, Principal Agent, as well as the Civil and Structural Engineers for this 25,000m² warehouse development, we would like to congratulate everyone involved for their hard work and dedication in bringing this project to completion.
Located in the Southgate Business Park in Umbogintwini, within the Amanzimtoti area, this development for Newlyn Group began with bulk earthworks (disposing of 95,000m³ of material) in April 2024 and was successfully completed by the end of 2024.
